In this book you follow a parent and a child as they launch a canoe from a muddy shore. They spot frogs jumping and they see turtles slide off logs into the water where they disappear. Under the pond exists another world, crayfish scuttling under rocks, nymphs building intricate shells and microscopic animals breaking down fallen leaves to recharge the water with nutrients. Over the pond you can spot fuzzy cattails swaying in the breeze, and a couple of loons swimming by in the sunlight.
